Project 1 completion

Me along with my teammates have completed our project 1 “ Demographic and Economic Influences on Crime”  using the datasets Washington Post Police Shootings and US County Personal Income Per Capita.

Our work on this project has been forged based on these questions:

    1. How does the correlation between age groups and crime rates help identify the most affected demographics?
    2. What is the relationship between per capita income, counties, and crime rates?

Update on project

Me and my teammates Bindu, Fawaz and Saneeth have discussed and contributed our work towards the project. The process included the following features:

Data Cleaning: The process where we have made sure that the dataset is void of any missing values and unrelated data.

Find relevant dataset: Searched for apt datasets that are helpful to solve our problem.

Report Preparation: Include all our insights into a single document as a whole.

Problem Solution: Made use of enhanced tools like Mathematica to look into the dataset in order to get useful insights.

As a whole, we strive to improve our insights and go through different approaches as a way to make our report more refined.

Issue is how location, temperature, per capita income correlate with frequency or type of police cases.

  1. Identifying regions with similar patterns of police cases based on socio-economic and environmental factors.
  2. Analyzing how these factors influence cases over time (seasonality in crimes related to temperature.
  3. Analyzing how age factors correlate with cases(most affected age groups).
  4. Identifying per capita income correlate for crime.
  5. Most cases by a Police station or police .
